Good Vibes : Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Tropical Holiday

Tropical Holiday

Ah, Christmas… what a magical time of the year.  The snow’s coming down, the carols can be heard in every shop, and family can be found nearby.  At least that’s what it would have been like back home but for this wandering traveler it was more lush palm trees, snorkeling in crystal blue water, and merrymaking with fellow voyagers who I’d met just that day.  Hence this month’s Good Vibes post being of the tropical flavor.  A new take on Darlene Love’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” infused with with warm vibes from the mysterious artist known only as “Tropical Holiday” is just the right fit for some island holiday fun.

This Christmas was quite different than previous years considering I spent it on the tropical island of Koh Tao found in Southern Thailand.  This time of the year is surely a test for the fortitude of many travelers as we face time away from our usual friends and family.  But what’s amazing is that good holiday cheer can be found just about anywhere in the world… just in a different style.  Tropical Holiday’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” is a perfect blend of the old and new as I am so far away from home.  The original song already holds a big significance for me as it was a tradition to watch Darlene Love perform it on David Letterman’s show with my dad each year.  The song does a tremendous job of reminding me of where I come from while still keeping me in the current moment.

*A special mention for this month’s Good Vibes post goes to another traveler named Tess who provided some great tunes before she departed for her next adventure.  Check her out below.

  1. It is such a vast difference, spending the holidays on the tropical islands of SE Asia, away from the comforts and (joys) of the holidays back home, the one thing you can count on is the music to bring a little bit of home to you. That was a great song! I just ihomed it this morning as I woke up. Another good one that always made me feel at home, away from home is Bossa Nova. Happy New Year! Safe Travels.

    • Music is such a great tool that connects to moments in our lives. There are songs that I would otherwise have never listened to had they not found a way to remind me of a moment in time.

Glad you enjoyed the song and have a tremendous New Year!
